On Saturday, October 31, I landed at JFK airport around 3:30pm. I was just getting back from my amazing honeymoon with my wife. I was jetlagged, tired and only had one thing on my mind. I needed to get home asap to watch American Pharoah in the Breeders' Cup Classic race. I sat in the car that picked us up just staring at my phone and double-checking the post time. We made it home before 5pm with around 35 minutes until the race, but now we were going to see our nephews an
At 5:30 pm, Saturday, August 29th, 2015 I was sitting by a small beach in Lake Placid, NY, watching two great friends get married. Was I checking my twitter news after their ceremony every ten seconds to get updates on the Travers Stakes at Saratoga? Yes, I was. Every ten seconds new twitter feeds came in: horses on the track, horses in the gate, they're off, American Pharoah out to the lead with Frosted right there, and Keen Ice wins the Travers. As I walked down to his stable to see him I got to see his friends(stablemates) too. Walking by Dortmund, Bayern, and then arriving at AP, was just an incredible sight. As I got to AP I was handed a bunch a carrots to feed him. One by one he just ate away and his playful perso
United Puett's first blog is here. June 6, 2015 was an amazing day for Horse Racing. Last year the Triple Crown hype grew very large because of California Chrome. In 2014, I think everyone just wanted to witness a triple crown since it had been so long since Affirmed did it in 1978. California Chrome is an amazing horse, but just couldn't pull it off. Some blamed overtraining, others the schedule of the triple crown, but at the end of the day he just wasn't good enough.
